Jalandhar, March 27: To celebrate World Theatre Day and to discuss the importance of theatre among students, the Department of Media Studies organized a screening of the Oscar-winning Indian documentary, The Elephant Whisperers for the students of Multimedia and Journalism. The Elephant Whisperers is a 2022 Tamil-language Academy award-winning Indian short documentary film directed by documentary filmmaker Kartiki Gonsalves in her directorial debut. The documentary is about the bond that develops between a couple and an orphaned baby elephant, Raghu, who was entrusted to their care. The film was released by Netflix globally on 8 December 2022 for streaming. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Awards, making it the first Indian film to win an Academy Award in that category at the Oscars. Students with full enthusiasm watched the movie and also at the end they wrote a movie review according to their understanding.
