It is one of the major religious festivals that celebrate Rama's eventual defeat of the evil spirit Ravana, and his triumphant return to his home. Some celebrate Diwali as a commemoration of the marriage of Lakshmi and Vishnu, while others observe it as the birthday of Lakshmi. In the lead-up to Deepawali, celebrants prepare by cleaning, renovating, and decorating their homes and workplaces with diyas (oil lamps) and rangolis (colorful art circle patterns). The Event was attended by a large number of students, faculty, and staff members.
