CT Group Organizes One-week Faculty Development Programme on "Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurship" in Collaboration with TBIF-IIT Ropar & BIC-IKGPTU

The Department of Computer Applications and the Department of Research, CT Group of Institutions, Maqsudan, Jalandhar, successfully organized a One-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled "Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurship" from 06–10 July 2026 in hybrid mode, in collaboration with the Technology Business Incubator Foundation (TBIF), IIT Ropar and the Business Incubation Centre (BIC), I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU).

The FDP was organized with the objective of strengthening innovation, entrepreneurship, and startup culture in Higher Education Institutions by equipping faculty members with practical knowledge of startup ecosystems, incubation management, government support schemes, intellectual property rights, technology commercialization, startup funding, industry-academia collaboration, and entrepreneurial mentoring.

The inaugural session commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana. The programme brought together faculty members, researchers, innovation coordinators, and academic leaders from various institutions, creating a collaborative platform for learning and knowledge exchange.

Throughout the five-day programme, participants attended interactive expert sessions delivered by eminent academicians, startup mentors, industry professionals, and incubation experts. Distinguished resource persons included Ms. Karuna Kanwar, CEO, TBIF-IIT Ropar; Dr. Ashish Arora; CA Sahil Makkar; Ms. Anima Mishra; Dr. M. S. Bedi; and Dr. Kavita Singla, who shared valuable insights on design thinking, startup ecosystems, business model development, incubation centre establishment, government startup schemes, investor readiness, intellectual property rights, technology commercialization, startup mentoring, and networking.

One of the major highlights of the programme was the Exposure Visit to the Technology Business Incubator Foundation (TBIF), IIT Ropar, where participants gained first-hand exposure to incubation infrastructure, startup support mechanisms, innovation facilities, and interactions with startup founders. The visit offered valuable practical insights into the functioning of a successful incubation ecosystem and inspired participants to strengthen innovation initiatives within their respective institutions.

The FDP featured interactive discussions, practical activities, networking opportunities, and collaborative learning sessions, making it a highly enriching experience for all participants. During the valedictory ceremony, certificates were presented to faculty members who successfully completed the programme. The organizing committee expressed gratitude to TBIF-IIT Ropar, BIC-IKGPTU, the distinguished resource persons, and all participants for their valuable contribution in making the programme a grand success.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman S. Charanjit Singh Channi said, "Innovation and entrepreneurship are essential for shaping future-ready professionals. Such initiatives empower educators to inspire creativity, research, and startup culture among students."

Managing Director Dr. Manbir Singh remarked, "Faculty development is key to academic excellence. Through collaborations with premier institutions, we continue to equip our educators with the knowledge and exposure needed to foster innovation and entrepreneurial thinking."

Executive Director Dr. Nitin Tandon added, "Continuous learning and industry-academia collaboration are vital for building strong innovation ecosystems. Programs like this prepare faculty to mentor the next generation of innovators."

The programme concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening innovation, entrepreneurship, and incubation ecosystems across Higher Education Institutions through sustained collaboration between academia, industry, and government organizations.
